Death of a runner to invite donations
More than 80,000 pounds (U.S. $ 129 000) collected for submission to the London Marathon runner who died at the event which took place on Sunday.
Claire Squires, a 30-year-old runner also barbers in North Kilworth, central England, following the 26.2-mile race, but the runner she fell in Birdcage Walk near St James's Park in London.
Paramedics tried to save the Squires, which is participating in a race in commemoration of Samaritans, but he was killed in action.
Thousands of people donate through JustGiving page, Monday, so it collected from 500 pounds to more than 80,000 pounds at 18.00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Monday, when news of his death more widespread.
Catherine Johnstone, chief executive warned Samaritans, an organization that deals with the problem of suicide, saying, "We are very heartened by jogger's death and try to help families cope with this very difficult problem. Our mind with thoughts of all people would know about him."
"We are grateful for all that has been done to him. This is a commitment to help his family. We deliberately held a fund-raising effort to help people who do not know where to go," he said.
The statement in the London Marathon website says, "London Marathon organizers say condolences to his family and friends for this tragedy."
"We declare that the sense of sadness and deep concern today is to the family of the deceased. We feel sympathy for those who are in this difficult time."
Examination to determine what caused a fit and died Squires will be announced in the coming days. He was the 11th runner who died in the London Marathon since the event was held from 1981.
